Student Rodd
Rowers with a year or more experience in rowing can contact the club directly to start rowing with us! If you have never tried rowing before or have limited experience we recommend you start with the learn-to-row course.
Biannually we hold a student beginner course for those new to rowing. The course usually runs from September-October or January-February. Keep an eye on our social media for exact dates!
The student section competes yearly in the Universitetskapprodden against Uppsala Akademiska Roddarsällskap (UARS). Other races include the indoor student-SM and on-water student-SM and NM. For races outside student categories, the student section collaborates with other rowers at the club.
The student committee looks after the social media, recruitment, organization of student-specific races, and other student activities.
At least one student committee member sits on the club board as a student representative.
Since 1992 student rowing has been a part of Malmö Roddklubb. Back then, rowers from Lund University and Uppsala University started competing in the yearly Universitetstkappsrodden or ‘Swedish Boat Race’ following the example of the world-famous Boat Race between Oxford and Cambridge University.
From 2006 to 2020, Lund Universitets Roddklubb functioned as its own club based at Malmö Roddklubb. In 2020 the clubs merged. Student rowing at Malmö Roddklubb is open to students from all universities in Skåne.
